Chapter 6 - Rebuilding from the Ashes

Three months after their chaotic birth, Clara, Beatrix, and Maeve were officially cleared to go home.

Corinne had spent the last few weeks transforming her house. With the help of her sister, Maya, and a strong network of supportive friends, the peaceful nursery with three white cribs was finally filled with the soft sounds of breathing, light coos, and gentle baby rustles.

The transition to life with three infants was overwhelming, but Corinne met every sleepless night with incredible resilience. Sarah Vance finalized the divorce proceedings shortly thereafter. The judge, presented with the overwhelming evidence of Landon's abandonment, financial misconduct, and lack of interest in parenting during the babies' hospital stay, granted Corinne full legal and physical custody. Landon was granted limited, supervised visitation rights—a privilege he rarely exercised, finding the structured, monitored environment beneath his dignity.

As the months turned into a year, Corinne found her rhythm. She started a home-based digital marketing consultancy, utilizing her professional background to secure remote clients, allowing her to earn a lucrative income while staying home with her daughters.

Dr. Julian Hayes became a frequent presence in their lives—initially through routine follow-up pediatric consultations, but gradually as a trusted friend. He admired Corinne's strength, grace, and unwavering devotion to her children, while Corinne found solace in his calm, grounded nature.

One evening, after the triplets were safely asleep in their cribs, Julian brought over takeout and sat with Corinne on the porch.

"You've built something incredible here, Corinne," Julian said softly, watching the light snow fall over the garden. "A year ago, you were carrying the world on your shoulders."

"I thought my life was over that day in the delivery room," Corinne confessed, sipping her tea. "I thought I was completely broken."

"You weren't broken," Julian replied, placing his hand gently over hers. "You were just freeing yourself from something that was holding you back."
