Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

Two years later.
The golden light of late afternoon bathed the lawn of the coastal Maine estate. Soft laughter echoed across the garden as two toddlers—Grace and Liam—chased sea gulls along the grassy bluff overlooking the sparkling ocean.
Megan stood on the wide wooden porch, holding a warm cup of tea. She looked radiant, her eyes bright and free of the darkness that had once threatened to consume her.
Rachel walked out to join her, placing a loving hand on Megan’s shoulder. "What are you thinking about?"
"About how close we came to losing everything," Megan said softly, watching the children play under Marcus’s watchful, smiling eye. "And how grateful I am that we didn't."
