Chapter 9 - The Vows

The wedding took place six months later on the grounds of their Atlanta estate, beneath the shade of ancient, towering oak trees draped in white roses and hanging lanterns.
It was not a grand corporate spectacle designed for public relations; it was a warm, magical celebration of love, redemption, and family.
Claire looked breathtaking in a timeless, ivory lace gown with a flowing train. She walked down the aisle holding a bouquet of white peonies and eucalyptus.
At the end of the aisle stood Grant, looking dashing in a dark navy suit, his eyes shining with unhidden tears as he watched his bride walk toward him. Standing beside him as the ring bearer was two-and-a-half-year-old Noah, wearing a tiny matching tuxedo, holding a velvet pillow with a proud, beaming smile.
When Claire reached the altar, Grant took her hands, looking at her as if she were the only person in the universe.
The officiant smiled. "Grant, you may speak your vows."
Grant took a deep breath, looking straight into Claire’s green eyes.
"Claire, I used to believe that strength meant never needing anyone. I was wrong. True strength is having the courage to give your whole heart to someone, knowing it makes you vulnerable. You saw through my armor when I was at my absolute worst. You fought for our son, and you had the incredible grace to teach me how to be a father and a man. I promise to honor you, protect you, and cherish you. I promise to listen to you, to walk beside you as your equal, and to love you unconditionally through every storm and every sunshine, for the rest of my days."
Claire wiped a tear from her cheek, her smile radiant.
"Grant," she said, her voice clear and resonant. "When I met you, I saw a man carrying a heavy weight from his past. I fell in love with your quiet kindness and your hidden heart. Even when we were driven apart, I never stopped believing in the man you could be. You have proven yourself to be a devoted father, a courageous partner, and my greatest comfort. Today, I give you my heart, completely and without reservation. I promise to build a life with you filled with laughter, truth, and unconditional love, for all the days of our lives."

As the officiant declared them husband and wife, Grant pulled Claire into his arms and kissed her deeply, to the joyous cheers and applause of their closest friends and family.
Noah ran up to them, tugging at Grant's pant leg, giggling happily. Grant picked up his son with one arm and wrapped his other arm around his new wife, bringing them close together in a warm, tight family embrace.
