Chapter 10 - The Silver Moon

That evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in deep shades of violet, gold, and crimson, Sarah walked out onto the wooden deck overlooking the quiet ocean shore.
The air was fresh, carrying the cool, clean scent of saltwater and damp earth. Far out on the water, gentle waves rolled onto the sandy beach with a rhythmic, soothing sound.
Sarah held Emma close to her chest, wrapped in a soft blanket as the evening cool settled over the coast.
High above the dark sea, the thin crescent of a silver moon appeared in the darkening sky, shining clear and bright through the night air.
Emma pointed her small hand toward the sky, cooing softly as she watched the moon.
"Do you see that, sweetie?" Sarah whispered, kissing the top of her daughter's warm, soft head. "That’s your grandmother's moon. She promised it would always watch over you."
Emma nestled her head into the crook of Sarah’s neck, her little hand gripping the fabric of Sarah’s sweater tightly, completely safe, completely loved, and completely home.
Sarah looked out over the endless ocean, feeling a deep, profound sense of peace wash over her soul. The scars on her body remained, faint silver lines that would forever remind her of the storm she had walked through. But they were no longer marks of trauma; they were medals of victory.
She had fought through the darkness, broken through the lies, and reclaimed the light of her life.

"No matter where you go, Emma," Sarah whispered into the calm evening breeze, "no matter how dark the world tries to get... I will always find you."
The baby drifted off to sleep, her calm, steady breathing resting softly against her mother's heart, beneath the watchful light of the silver moon.
