Chapter 8 - The Grand Celebration

Six months later, the Moretti estate hosted a wedding that the city would talk about for generations.
It was not a dark, secretive mafia gathering. It was a radiant, joyous celebration of life and renewed hope. High stone arches were adorned with thousands of white roses and flowing silk ribbon. Sunlight bathed the grand courtyard where months ago snow had frozen the ground.
Alessandro stood near the altar beneath the marble gazebo, wearing a sharp, tailored black tuxedo. Beside him stood Marco, wearing a proud, wide smile, serving as his best man.
The music shifted to a gentle, sweeping orchestra melody.
First came the flower girl.
Emma walked down the rose-petal-strewn aisle wearing a beautiful white lace dress and a small crown of yellow wildflowers. Beside her, wearing a matching bow of white silk around his massive collar, trotted Bruno. The giant dog walked with absolute grace, looking proudly at the guests seated on either side, completely at peace.
Then came Sophia.
Alessandro’s breath caught in his throat. She was breathtaking. She wore an elegant, flowing ivory gown with intricate lace detail that trailed behind her. Her dark hair was styled in soft waves, and her face was lit with an inner joy that illuminated the entire courtyard.
As she reached the altar, Alessandro stepped forward, taking her delicate hand in his.
"You look beautiful," he whispered softly, his dark eyes filled with reverence.
"You don't look so bad yourself, Mr. Moretti," Sophia teased gently, her eyes shining with love.
The priest read the sacred vows, but the words that mattered most were the ones they exchanged with their eyes.
"I give you my life, my protection, and my heart," Alessandro spoke, slipping the gold band onto her finger. "For as long as I draw breath, you and Emma will never walk alone."
"I give you my love, my trust, and my soul," Sophia replied, placing her ring on his hand. "You brought us out of the dark, and I will love you through every light that follows."
"I pronounce you husband and wife," the priest declared. "You may kiss the bride."
Alessandro pulled Sophia close, dipping her gently as he pressed a deep, passionate kiss against her lips. The courtyard erupted into thunderous applause, cheers, and thrown rose petals.

At their feet, Emma giggled happily, hugging Bruno around his thick neck. "Look, Bruno! Mommy and Mr. Boss are married!"
Bruno let out a happy, loud bark that echoed joyfully across the sunlit estate.
