Chapter 6 - The Truth Unveiled
Dominic lunged forward.
He tackled Victor to the ground, the force of the impact sending Victor’s gun skittering across the polished floor. The two men wrestled in the dim light, a brutal, desperate struggle for survival. Victor swung a heavy fist, catching Dominic on the jaw, but Dominic barely flinched. The rage of a man who had almost lost his future fueled his every movement.
Dominic grabbed Victor by the collar, slamming him repeatedly against the marble floor until the traitorous lieutenant went limp, his eyes rolling back.
Marcus and a squad of loyal tactical guards burst into the room, quickly detaining the remaining intruders.
"Secure the perimeter!" Marcus shouted. "Get the medic!"
Dominic stood up, his chest heaving, his knuckles bruised and bleeding. He ignored his own injuries and immediately rushed to Grace and Lucy. He fell to his knees in front of them, his hands shaking as he touched Lucy’s shoulders.
"Are you hurt? Did they touch you?" he asked, his voice thick with a raw, terrifying panic.
"We're okay," Grace whispered, tears streaming down her face. She wrapped her arms around Dominic’s neck, pulling him into a fierce, desperate hug. Lucy squeezed in between them, completing the embrace.
For the second time in his life, Dominic felt the pure, healing warmth of a genuine hug. He closed his eyes, holding them both as tight as he dared, letting the adrenaline fade into a profound sense of relief.
"Marcus," Dominic called out over Grace's shoulder, his voice returning to its commanding tone. "Bring Claire down."
A few minutes later, Claire entered the room, flanked by guards. She looked at the chaos, the unconscious Victor, and then at Dominic, who was standing with Grace and Lucy.
Dominic walked over to Claire. He took her hands in his.
"I am sorry, Claire," Dominic said softly. "I let my fear and my past blind me. The DNA test was fake. The baby is mine. Victor orchestrated everything to tear us apart."

Claire let out a sob, burying her face in his chest. "I knew it, Dominic. I knew you would find the truth."
But as Dominic held Claire, his eyes drifted back to Grace, who was quietly comforting Lucy in the corner. A strange, heavy silence settled over his heart. He had uncovered the truth, but the world he knew had changed forever.
