Chapter 10 - The Dawn of a New Legacy

Claret walked over to the counter, looking at Beatrice calmly. Vincent stood a few steps behind her, his arms crossed, watching intently.
Beatrice swallowed hard, her face red with embarrassment. "I know how I treated you, Claret. I was awful. I made fun of your weight, I tried to hide you in the back, and I was cruel. I don't expect you to hire me. I just... I wanted to say I was wrong. You were the best worker I ever had, and I was jealous of your confidence."
The room went quiet for a moment. Claret looked at the woman who had made her life miserable for years.
In the past, Claret might have felt a urge to get revenge, to mock Beatrice and throw her out into the street. But Claret had learned that true strength was not born of malice.
"We need a floor manager, Beatrice," Claret said softly.
Beatrice gasped, her eyes wide with disbelief. "You... you’re offering me the job?"

"On three conditions," Claret said with a smile. "First, you treat every employee and every customer with unconditional respect, regardless of their size, background, or income. Second, you leave your bad attitude at the front door. And third, you take a shift on the floor once a week so you never forget what it’s like to serve others."
Tears sprang to Beatrice’s eyes. She nodded vigorously, clutching her resume to her chest. "Yes! Yes, absolute agreement! Thank you, Claret.
