Chapter 7 - The Confrontation of Blood

Julian’s eyes traveled from the ledger to the silver locket. He stepped closer, his hand shaking as he reached out to touch the silver petals of the lotus.
"Where... where did you get this?" Julian whispered, his voice cracking. "This was my mother’s custom piece. She had two made. One for herself, and one for..." He trailed off, his eyes widening as a suppressed childhood memory flared to life.
"One for her twin sister, Clara," Elena said, tears streaming down her face. "My mother. Your grandfather cast her out because she was born sick, breathing like a broken machine, deemed an embarrassment to the perfect Castellane legacy. She lived in poverty, Julian. She died in it. And she gave me this locket to remind me of who we were, even if we could never claim it."
Arthur laughed nervously. "Julian, don't listen to this garbage! She’s a grifter! She stole that locket from the hotel rooms, or she bought a replica to blackmail us!"
"Quiet, Arthur!" Julian roared, a terrifying power returning to his voice. He grabbed the Swiss ledger from Elena’s hands, flipping through the pages, reading the signature of Dr. Vance and the official family seals.
Julian looked up at Elena, seeing the unmistakable shape of his own mother’s jawline, the same hazel eyes, the same resilient spirit. The pieces of the puzzle fell into place instantly. The deep connection he had felt to her, the instant trust, the shared hereditary respiratory struggles of their children—it wasn't a coincidence. It was blood.
Julian turned his gaze slowly toward Arthur, his expression turning ice-cold. "You knew about this, didn't you?"

"Julian, I was protecting the company! Protecting us!" Arthur stammered, backing up.
"You framed the woman who saved my daughter’s life to protect your own wallet," Julian said, his voice deadly quiet. He turned to the police officers. "Officers, dismiss the charges against Ms. Vasquez. Instead, I want you to detain my brother for corporate fraud, fabrication of evidence, and conspiracy. My legal team will provide the full dossiers within the hour."
