Chapter 10 - A Happy Ending

The sun dipped below the Manhattan skyline, painting the clouds in brilliant shades of amber, violet, and gold as Rory’s car pulled up the private driveway of the Long Island estate that evening.
Before he could even step out of the vehicle, the front oak doors flew open, and two small figures came sprinting down the stone steps toward him, shouting in unison.
“Daddy! Daddy's home!”
Rory stepped out of the car with a wide smile, dropping to one knee just in time to catch both Lily and Rose as they threw their arms around his neck, nearly knocking him over with their enthusiastic hugs.
“Careful, my little princesses,” Rory laughed, lifting them both into his arms as they giggled delightedly. “You’re getting too strong for your old dad.”
“We drew a picture for you in art class today!” Rose announced proudly, holding up a bright sheet of construction paper filled with crayons—a colorful drawing of a big house, two happy girls, and a towering figure standing guard beside them with a shining shield.

“It's amazing,” Rory said softly, kissing both of their foreheads as he carried them up the steps toward the warm, brightly lit interior of the mansion.
The dark shadows of the past were gone, washed away by truth, strength, and unwavering love. As the heavy doors closed behind them, shutting out the cool evening wind, Rory knew that whatever storms might try to roll in from the outside world in the future, his family was safe, united, and finally at peace.
