Chapter 6 - Three months passed.Three months passed.

The scandal surrounding Velasco International’s internal purge had quietly vanished from the tabloids, buried beneath high-priced legal settlements and corporate restructuring. Doña Leonor remained exiled in Argentina, stripped of her influence and isolated in a sprawling estate she was forbidden to leave.
Back in Mexico City, the General Hospital continued its relentless rhythm of struggle and survival. But something unprecedented had begun to shift in the pediatric ward.
Every Monday morning, a sleek, unmarked delivery van arrived at the loading dock, unloading crates of high-grade medical supplies, advanced diagnostic kits, and specialized pediatric medications. The paperwork always listed an anonymous benefactor operating through a philanthropic trust.
Sofía knew exactly whose handwriting was on the initial grant approval.
She sat at the nurses' station reviewing patient charts when Carmen slid a thick manila envelope across the desk.
"A courier dropped this off for you at the front desk," Carmen said, raising an eyebrow. "No return address, but the guard said the guy looked like he just stepped out of a private security detail for a head of state."
Sofía opened the envelope. Inside was a single photograph and a handwritten note.
The photograph showed Mateo sitting on a sunlit lawn in Switzerland, laughing brightly, a head of thick dark hair and clear, unblemished skin. He looked healthy, vibrant, and fiercely alive.
The note was written in sharp, confident strokes using the silver pen Nicolás had given her:
“He walked his first five steps today. The Swiss doctors say he is thriving. The clinic downtown has been officially registered under an anonymous public trust, fully staffed and operating. You are welcome to inspect it whenever you finish saving the rest of the city. — N.”
Sofía traced the ink with her thumb, a quiet smile touching her lips. She tucked the photo into the pocket of her scrubs just as the emergency doors flew open.

"Doctor! We have a severe pediatric trauma case coming in!" a paramedic shouted, wheeling a stretcher through the doors.
Sofía’s expression instantly shifted into one of intense, professional focus. She stepped forward, ready to take charge, her hands steady and her mind sharp.
