Chapter 9 - Justice Restored

With the criminals behind bars, the process of healing and restoration began. Arthur successfully petitioned the courts to fully restore Sarah's trust fund to Ethan, completely untangled from the debts and frauds Claudia had attempted to create. Every single dollar stolen was recovered from the frozen offshore accounts.
The suburban house was officially signed over to Ethan's sole name.
On a crisp spring morning, Ethan and I stood on the front lawn of the property. The snow had melted, replaced by green grass and the early blooms of crocuses pushing through the soil.
"What do you want to do with the house, Ethan?" I asked, placing a hand on his shoulder. "It's entirely yours. If you want to sell it and never look back, I will support you completely."
Ethan looked at the beautiful house, then turned to me with a bright, peaceful smile.

"I don't want to sell it, Grandpa," Ethan said firmly. "Claudia and Mark tried to turn this place into a prison. But before that, it was the home my mom built for me. I want to strip away everything they touched. I want to remodel it, make it beautiful, and rent it out to a local charity that helps displaced and abused teenagers. I want this house to become a sanctuary for kids who feel as hopeless as I did."
Tears pricked my eyes. I pulled my grandson into a fierce, proud hug. "Your mother would be so incredibly proud of you, Ethan. And so am I."
