Chapter 5 - The Return to the Estate

Dawn broke over the Romano estate, washing the rain-slicked gardens in pale, golden light.
Inside the grand parlor, Isabella Romano sat on a velvet sofa, flanked by two armed security guards loyal to Leo. Her hair was slightly disheveled, her makeup smeared, but her eyes still burned with defiant arrogance.
Thomas Hail sat in a corner chair, staring at the floor, utterly defeated.
The heavy mahogany doors swung open.
Leo walked in. But he was not alone.
Holding his hand tightly was a four-year-old boy with dark, expressive eyes, a sharp little chin, and a tiny crescent-shaped birthmark just behind his left ear. Walking beside them was Clara Bennett, tears streaming freely down her cheeks, and Willow, holding the wooden box like a sacred shield.
Isabella jumped to her feet. "Leo! What is the meaning of this? You bring strangers into our home—"
"Silence, Isabella," Leo commanded. The sheer authority in his voice stopped her dead in her tracks.
Leo knelt down beside the small boy, gently brushing a lock of dark hair from his forehead. "Look around you, son. You're home now. No one will ever hurt you again."
The boy looked up with wide, innocent eyes, nodding slowly.
Leo stood up and faced his wife. He pulled the micro-cassettes, the hospital records from St. Cecilia’s, and the adoption logs from St. Jude, slamming them onto the glass coffee table.
"The game is over, Isabella," Leo said coldly. "Dr. Hayes confessed. The DNA cross-reference from the sanctuary matches this boy down to the last genetic marker. He is my flesh and blood. The firstborn son of the Romano bloodline."
Isabella laughed—a harsh, shrill sound that echoed off the high ceilings. "And what do you think you can prove, Leo? The world knows the baby in the nursery is your heir! The birth announcements have already been sent to every major newspaper in Europe! If you expose this scandal, the Romano Holdings stock will plummet by half before the market opens!"
"Let it plummet," Leo replied without hesitation. "My empire was built on iron and blood, not on lies. I would rather tear Romano Holdings down to ash than let a fraud inherit a single brick."
He turned to Thomas Hail.
"Thomas, draft the papers immediately. Strip Isabella of all assets, initiate formal divorce proceedings for treason and attempted usurpation, and prepare the legal recognition for my real son."
Thomas nodded numbly, picking up his pen. "Yes, Mr. Romano."
Isabella shrieked, lunging forward like a cornered animal, but Victor stepped in, grabbing her arms and holding her firmly in place as the guards escorted her out of the parlor toward the private security detention wing.
The room grew quiet once more.
Leo looked down at Clara and Willow. He walked over, knelt down in front of the brave little girl who had changed the course of history with a single whispered sentence, and placed a hand gently on her shoulder.
"Willow," Leo said, his stern face softening into a warm, genuine smile. "You saved my family. Name your reward. Anything within my power, and it is yours."
Willow looked up at her mother, then back at Leo, before smiling brightly.
"Just a new set of school books, sir," she whispered shyly. "And maybe... a puppy."

Leo chuckled—a deep, booming laugh that hadn't been heard in these halls for years.
"Done," Leo said. "And a scholarship to any university in the world when the time comes."
