Chapter 8 - The Fall of the Shadow

While Marcus escorted Willow and Mia to the impenetrable underground bunker deep beneath the estate, Josiah led a lethal, decisive counter-attack. Fuelled by the terrifying realization that his family had almost been taken from him, Josiah showed no mercy.
Within six hours, the Valenti syndicate was utterly decimated. Josiah’s forces systematically dismantled their operations across the city, capturing the Valenti leadership and making it crystal clear to the entire underground world that the Sterling empire was unassailable, and that touching Josiah’s home meant absolute annihilation.
By dawn, the gunfire had ceased. The rain had cleared, leaving behind a crisp, golden morning sky.
The heavy steel doors of the underground bunker slid open with a deep mechanical groan. Willow, who had stayed awake all night holding a now-peacefully sleeping Mia, stood up as the sunlight poured into the room.
