Part 9: Harvest of Joy

Two years later, the Blackwood estate was a place of endless joy and light.
The grand gardens now featured a wooden playground where a three-year-old Ethan chased after a golden retriever puppy, laughing hysterically. Sitting on a shaded veranda patio overlooking the lawn, Lily rested her hand gently on her visibly rounded stomach, smiling as she watched her husband chase their son through the grass.
Victor caught Ethan mid-air, lifting the toddler up over his head as the little boy shrieked with delight. Victor then carried him over to the patio, setting him down beside Lily before leaning over to press a tender kiss to her lips.
“How are you feeling, my love?” Victor asked softly, resting his large palm over her baby bump.
“I’m wonderful,” Lily smiled, leaning back into his embrace. “Though chasing after Ethan while six months pregnant is becoming an Olympic sport.”
“That’s why I have an army of staff to make sure you don't have to lift a finger,” Victor teased gently, though his eyes held deep affection.
“You spoil us,” Lily sighed happily.
“You survived hell to give me a family,” Victor replied, his voice turning serious and deeply tender. “Spoiling you for the rest of our lives is the least I can do.”
Toby jogged up the garden path, holding a stack of college graduation certificates and grinning ear to ear. “Hey! Big news! I officially graduated top of my class with honors!”
“Toby! That’s amazing!” Lily jumped up, rushing over to hug her brother tightly.
“Congratulations, son,” Victor clapped Toby on the shoulder, offering a proud, brotherly smile. “The offer for the executive position at my logistics firm still stands whenever you’re ready.”

“Thanks, Victor—I mean, brother,” Toby laughed, feeling completely integrated into the powerful family that had once seemed so intimidating.
As the sun began to set, painting the Chicago sky in brilliant shades of orange, pink, and gold, Lily looked around at the people she loved most. The shadows of her past—the abusive ex-husband, the terrified nights running for her life, the cruel tyranny of Serena Montague—were all distant memories, washed away by time and unconditional love.
