Chapter 4 - The Delaware Reversal

By 2:00 PM, I was back at the Lake Washington mansion.

Nathan returned home early, wearing an expression of calculated concern that made my stomach turn. He brought a bouquet of white lilies—my least favorite flowers—and placed them on the kitchen island.

"Audrey," he said, stepping toward me with outstretched arms. "I'm sorry about last night. I was stressed about work. I overreacted."

"It's fine, Nathan," I said, putting on my best act of frail, exhausted submission. I lowered my head and let my shoulders slump. "I haven't been sleeping well. Maybe... maybe I really am losing my mind. The stress of trying to be a good mother to Emma is just... overwhelming."

Nathan’s eyes flared with satisfaction. It was the look of a predator watching its prey step into the snare.

"I understand, sweetheart," he murmured, rubbing my arms gently. "You've been through so much. I called Dr. Latham this morning. He prescribed a mild, highly effective sedative to help you rest tonight. I'll prepare your tea myself after dinner."

"Thank you, Nathan," I whispered softly. "You're always taking care of me."

While Nathan went upstairs to his home office to finalize his murder plot with Victoria, I went to work.

Using my encrypted tablet, I logged into the secured portal of Aegis Capital LLC, our Delaware holding company. With a few keystrokes, I executed an emergency resolution:

Immediate Revocation of Executive Authority: Revoking Nathan Caldwell’s power of attorney and signature authority over all corporate bank accounts, effective midnight.

Asset Freeze: Freezing all personal accounts tied to Nathan Caldwell pending an internal audit.

Forensic Audit Authorization: Directing federal financial regulators to inspect Caldwell Pacific’s accounts at 9:00 AM tomorrow.

I attached full documentation of his secret offshore accounts, provided by Ethan.

Next, I met with our household security technician—a man I had hired privately two years ago without Nathan’s knowledge. Together, we retrofitted the living room and staircase with micro-cameras and hidden directional microphones. Every square inch of the foyer, the stairs, and the kitchen was now linked directly to a private server streaming live to Ethan’s legal team and local law enforcement.

Nathan thought he was the master chess player on the West Coast.

He didn't realize I had already flipped the board.
