Chapter 8 - The Judge's Gavel

Judge Alvarez—no relation, much to Rodrigo's visible discomfort—reviewed the thick dossier compiled by Dana Price, CPS, and the pediatric medical team. The pages detailed months of missed appointments, fraudulent school withdrawals, intentional isolation, and the emotional abuse inflicted by Teresa under Rodrigo's direct complicity.
Rodrigo’s defense attorney tried a desperate plea, arguing that Rodrigo was merely a stressed provider caught between a demanding career and family disputes, but the argument crumbled under the weight of the digital paper trail I had recovered from our old cloud storage.
"Mr. Alvarez," Judge Alvarez said, her voice cutting sharply through the courtroom. "The court has reviewed the extensive evidence of willful neglect, psychological isolation, and deliberate deception. A child's home is meant to be a sanctuary, not a prison designed to hide an inconvenient truth."
She leaned forward, her gaze fixed entirely on Rodrigo, who shrank back into his chair.
"Furthermore, the testimony and evidence confirm that Mrs. Mariana Alvarez made continuous, documented efforts to check on her son, all of which were maliciously intercepted and blocked by you and your mother."
The judge picked up her wooden gavel, and the sharp crack echoed through the silent room like a gunshot.

"This court hereby grants sole legal and physical custody of the minor child, Emiliano Alvarez, to his mother, Mariana Alvarez, with zero supervised or unsupervised visitation rights granted to Rodrigo Alvarez or Teresa Alvarez until the child reaches the age of majority or a clinical psychological evaluation deems otherwise. Furthermore, all marital assets hidden under fraudulent corporate shells are hereby unfrozen and reallocated under emergency divorce settlements."
Rodrigo buried his face in his hands, letting out a ragged, broken sound. Teresa stood up to protest, but two court bailiffs immediately stepped forward, silencing her with a single warning glance.
