Chapter 8 - Rebuilding the Sanctuary

The months following the divorce were filled with a profound sense of healing. The first thing I did was redecorate. We repainted the living room in bright, warm colors chosen by Olivia and Ethan. The heavy, tense atmosphere that used to hang over the house was entirely gone, replaced by laughter, music, and the comforting smell of home-cooked meals.
Ethan’s wooden airplane, which had been the catalyst for the entire upheaval, became a symbol of our resilience. Together, Ethan and I spent a Saturday afternoon carefully repairing it. We glued the wing back in place, sanded down the rough edges, and added a fresh coat of brilliant blue and gold paint. We hung it proudly from the ceiling of his bedroom.
"It's stronger now, Mom," Ethan said, looking up at it with a bright smile. "Where it was broken, the glue makes it even tougher."
"You're exactly right, sweetie," I said, hugging him tight.
