Chapter 10 - Where Love Belongs

The wedding of Alejandro Arriaga and Lucía Morales was not a lavish, pretentious affair for high-society cameras. It was an intimate, beautiful celebration held in a small, rustic chapel in Lucía’s hometown in Oaxaca, surrounded by close friends, genuine loved ones, and Lucía’s humble family.

Lucía looked radiant in a simple, elegant white lace dress, her dark hair woven with fresh wildflowers. Alejandro stood at the altar in a crisp dark suit, his eyes never leaving her as she walked down the aisle.

Emiliano stood proudly beside his father as the best man, holding the rings with a beaming smile.

During the vows, Alejandro took Lucía’s hands and spoke from the bottom of his heart:

"Lucía, you taught me that true strength isn't found in money or status, but in courage, truth, and love. You saved my family when it was falling into the dark. Today, I give you my heart, my honor, and my entire life. I promise to protect you, cherish you, and walk beside you through every light and shadow."

When it was Lucía’s turn, she looked into Alejandro’s eyes, her voice steady and full of deep warmth:

"Alejandro, when I first came into your home, I was afraid. But I saw a loving father who was fighting for his son in the middle of a storm. You believed in me when I took a stand, and you gave me the chance to build a future I only dreamed of. I promise to love you, to honor our home, and to protect our family with everything I am, forever."

The priest declared them husband and wife, and as Alejandro kissed his bride, the small chapel erupted in joyous applause and cheering.

The reception was a lively celebration filled with traditional Oaxacan music, delicious food, and warm laughter that carried late into the night.

Later that evening, as the festivities slowed down, Alejandro, Lucía, and Emiliano walked together down a quiet path near the village square, looking up at the bright night sky filled with stars.

Emiliano walked between them, holding both of their hands.

"Dad?" Emiliano asked softly.

"Yes, son?"

"Remember that night three years ago?" Emiliano said quietly, looking up at his father and then at Lucía. "When I thought there was a monster inside my stomach?"

Alejandro stopped, kneeling down in front of his son with a warm, gentle smile. "I remember, my boy. It was the scariest night of my life."

Emiliano smiled, squeezing Lucía’s hand tightly. "I’m glad I screamed that night. Because if I hadn't screamed, Lucía wouldn't have stepped forward... and we wouldn't be here today."

Lucía knelt down beside them, pulling Emiliano into a soft hug and kissing his cheek. "The monster is long gone, Emiliano. Now, there is only love."

Alejandro wrapped his arms around them both under the moonlight. The fear, the poison, and the dark lies of the past were completely washed away, replaced by a deep, unbreakable bond born from courage and sealed with true love.

They stood together as a whole, happy family—safe, united, and home at last.
