Chapter 7 - The Pivot

Melissa stepped up to the massive digital screen at the front of the room. She connected her tablet and brought up a series of vibrant, high-energy marketing mockups.

"The leaked draft was an unfinished, raw concept," Melissa began, her voice steady and confident. "The public reacted negatively because they thought it was the final product. But what if we tell them it was supposed to be a leak? What if we lean into the mystery?"

She clicked to the next slide, showing a beautifully structured timeline of a "controlled leak" campaign.

"We launch a viral interactive puzzle campaign today," Melissa explained. "We acknowledge the leak, but we frame it as a 'hack' by an artificial intelligence character that is central to NexaCorp’s new software. We invite the public to 'crack the code' to find the real product launch details. This transforms a corporate mistake into an immersive, global game."

The boardroom was dead silent. The senior partners, who had been ready to panic and fire half the staff, were staring at the screen in awe. The strategy was brilliant. It was bold, modern, and completely neutralized the negative press by turning the audience into active participants.

"How long will it take to deploy this?" I asked, testing her.

"My team at Apex is already primed," Melissa answered without hesitation. "We’ve been working through the night to build the base framework. If you sign off on the budget reallocation now, we can go live in two hours."

I looked around the table. The other board members were slowly nodding. Even Harold looked impressed.

"Do it," I said, looking Melissa in the eye. "You have the full backing of Vanguard’s resources. Save this account, Melissa."

"I won't let you down, Chief," she said, offering a crisp, confident nod before turning and marching out of the room to execute her plan.
