Chapter 10 - The New Dawn

The hospital room was filled with the soft, sweet scent of baby shampoo and fresh flowers.
Two days after an uncomplicated, perfectly healthy delivery, I sat propped up in the hospital bed, cradling a tiny, perfect bundle wrapped in a soft white blanket.
Our baby girl—healthy, strong, with a full head of dark hair and Eric's unmistakable nose—let out a tiny, contented yawn, her minuscule fingers curling instinctively around my thumb.
The door pushed open quietly, and Eric walked in carrying two cups of celebratory coffee, followed closely by Eleanor, my parents, and a handful of trusted friends who had stood by us through every darkest hour.
There was no tension in the room, no anxious glances toward the door, no fear of sudden betrayal. Just pure, unadulterated joy.
Eric walked over to the bed, setting the coffee down, and leaned over to look at our daughter with tears shining unashamedly in his eyes. He gently kissed my forehead, then pressed a soft kiss to the baby's crown.
"What's her name?" my mother asked softly, wiping a tear of happiness from her cheek.
Eric looked down at me, sharing a quiet, knowing smile that carried the weight of everything we had survived, fought for, and conquered together.

"Her name," I said softly, looking down at the tiny miracle in my arms as the morning sun broke brilliantly through the hospital window, "is Sarah Hope Vance."
Because every dark winter eventually gives way to spring, and every storm must finally yield to a peaceful, unshakeable dawn.
