Chapter 4 - Eviction and Exposure

"No... no, this is a sick joke," Evan stammered, sweat breaking out across his forehead. "You're just a housewife! You don't know anything about software! You've been staying home with the kids for a decade!"

"I worked behind the scenes every single day while you took credit for operational growth that my algorithms created," I replied, standing up slowly and looking down at him. "I allowed you to play the powerful executive because I loved you, Evan. I thought keeping a low profile would protect our family from ego and greed. But you mistook my humility for incompetence."

Arthur Vance stepped forward, opening a thick dossier on the mahogany table.

"Over the past six months, Mr. Brooks," Arthur announced to the entire boardroom, "our internal security division monitored unauthorized access to proprietary company servers. We discovered that you transferred classified encryption keys to an unverified private network registered under the name of one Marissa Vance—your companion."

Evan gasped, looking around the room frantically. "That was just... I was setting up a private consultancy! It wasn't theft!"

"It is corporate espionage and embezzlement," I corrected coldly. "You used company funds to purchase luxury gifts, leases, and jewelry for your mistress, filing them under 'client entertainment expenses.' Every single receipt, every hotel booking, every wire transfer has been documented."

I walked over to the edge of the table and looked directly into his terrified eyes.

"You told me yesterday that I had one week to leave my home," I said quietly. "You have five minutes to leave my building. Security will escort you to the street. Your personal phone has been deactivated. Your bank accounts tied to Mitchell Tech payroll have been frozen under court order."

As two giant security officers took Evan firmly by the arms, he began to panic, tears spilling down his cheeks. "Claire! Please! Think about the years we spent together! Think about the children!"

"I am thinking about my children," I replied smoothly, turning my back on him. "And for the first time in eleven years, they are completely safe from you."
