Chapter 6 - The Boardroom Reckoning

Monday morning at Apex Solutions was anything but ordinary. Daniel walked into the executive suite expecting a routine briefing with his department heads. Instead, when he opened the door to the primary conference room, he found three people waiting for him: the Chief Executive Officer, his mother Margaret, and his father Richard.
Daniel stopped dead in his tracks, the files slipping slightly from his grip. "Dad? What... what are you doing here?"
Richard sat at the head of the polished oak table, his fingers steepled together. "Sit down, Daniel. We need to talk about your career trajectory, your personal ethics, and your sudden lack of judgment."
Daniel looked around the room in sheer panic. "This is a private matter! You can't bring family drama into the boardroom!"
"Family drama?" the CEO of Apex Solutions spoke up, his voice ice-cold. "Mr. Whitaker, your wife’s legal representation has formally notified our HR department of severe financial misconduct and asset concealment connected to company time and resources. Furthermore, your father, as a principal board member, has requested a formal review of your executive standing."
Daniel’s face turned completely ashen. "You're firing me over a marital dispute?"
May you like
"We are not firing you over a marital dispute, son," Richard said quietly, standing up from his chair and walking slowly toward him. "We are firing you—and stripping you of your executive bonuses—because you used company assets to fund an extramarital affair while abandoning your minor children without food or shelter. Apex Solutions has a strict code of corporate ethics, and you have violated every single line of it."
Margaret looked at her son, her eyes filled with profound disappointment. "You built your entire life on a foundation of lies, Daniel. Today, that foundation finally collapsed."
