Six months later, Claire stood before a massive glass window overlooking the Manhattan skyline. She was no longer just the former Mrs. Whitmore; she was the newly appointed Managing Partner of Vance & Associates, a prestigious corporate law and consulting firm she had partnered with using her divorce settlement.
Under her leadership, the firm had successfully restructured several major corporations, earning Claire a reputation as one of the most brilliant strategic minds in the city.
The door to her office opened, and her assistant entered. "Ms. Claire, your 2:00 PM appointment is here."
"Send him in," Claire said, turning around with a warm smile.
A tall, handsome man in a well-tailored navy suit walked into the office. He had a kind, intelligent face and an air of quiet confidence that was entirely different from Nathan’s loud, aggressive presence.
This was Julian Vance—no relation to Brooke or Marcus, but a highly respected green-energy entrepreneur who had partnered with Claire’s firm to launch a massive sustainability initiative.
"Claire," Julian said, his eyes lighting up as he shook her hand. "You look incredible. I saw the write-up in Forbes this morning. 'The Woman Who Rebuilt Her Own Empire.' It’s well-deserved."
"Thank you, Julian," Claire said, feeling a genuine warmth rise in her chest. Over the past few months, their professional partnership had slowly blossomed into something much deeper. Julian was attentive, respectful, and valued Claire not just for her beauty, but for her brilliant mind.
"I was hoping we could celebrate tonight," Julian said, leaning against her desk. "A quiet dinner. No business talk. Just you and me."
