Federal marshals arrived at Halloway’s corporate headquarters at precisely 8:00 AM the following Monday.

The charges were staggering: wire fraud, corporate racketeering, falsification of public records, and predatory displacement of residential tenants. Richard Vance was arrested at his desk, attempting to shred documents that directly linked the firm to Sarah Vance’s illegal modifications of bank ledgers.

As Halloway was led out of his building in handcuffs, flashing cameras blinded him from every angle. Reporters shouted questions about his multi-million-dollar losses, his fraudulent schemes, and his utter ruin. He kept his head down, realizing too late that his fatal mistake wasn't just stealing an apartment from a seemingly helpless mother—it was underestimating the quiet strength of someone who had nothing left to lose.

Across the street, watching from the tinted window of a black town car, Arthur Vale lowered his newspaper.
