Chapter 9 - A New Dawn at The Grandview Estate

That evening, the sun set over Apex Global's flagship estate, painting the sky in brilliant hues of gold, amber, and violet.
The Grandview Estate was alive with warmth and laughter. The newly landscaped gardens were filled with the joyful screeches of Oliver and Emma as they chased glowing fireflies across the manicured emerald lawn, their small footsteps echoing lightly against the stone pathways.
Inside the sprawling, beautifully lit kitchen, the aroma of roasted garlic, fresh rosemary, and Margaret's famous homemade lasagna filled the air.
Margaret stood by the island, wearing a brand-new, beautiful silk apron I had bought her, her hands moving with practiced ease as she plated the dinner. Her arthritis still flared up on cold mornings, but she had access to the finest medical care, holistic therapists, and a comfortable lifestyle she had more than earned over a lifetime of sacrifice.
"Dinner is almost ready, sweetheart!" Margaret called out, glancing toward the living room where I was reviewing some corporate expansion reports on my tablet.
"Coming, Mom!" I smiled, setting the tablet aside and walking over to help set the table.
As I placed the crystal glasses next to the fine porcelain plates, I looked out the floor-to-ceiling windows toward the street across from us. The rental house was dark, its windows boarded up and lifeless, a silent monument to a chapter of my life that was now firmly closed.
I didn't feel any lingering bitterness or fear. That part of my story was over. What remained was a fortress built not just with steel, biometric security, and corporate wealth, but with resilience, boundaries, and unconditional family love.
The doorbell chimed softly—a gentle, melodious chime that signaled a welcome guest.
I walked to the grand foyer, pressed the intercom screen, and saw Marcus standing outside holding a bottle of vintage champagne to celebrate the final corporate restructuring and the closure of the divorce proceedings.

I smiled, pressed the button to open the heavy iron gates, and watched them swing wide open—not to let in a nightmare, but to welcome in the bright, beautiful future we had built with our own hands.
"Welcome home," I whispered to myself, turning back toward the warm, glowing lights of my family.
