Chapter 3 - The Guardian of the Dark

At 11:45 PM, the heavy security doors of Bennett Medical Logistics hissed open. It wasn't Derek. It was Julian Vance, a ruthless, reclusive billionaire tech mogul and the fiercest rival of the Bennett family. Julian had been secretly auditing the company's books to launch a hostile takeover, having long suspected Derek Bennett of massive financial fraud and money laundering.
Tracking a strange anomaly in the building’s power grid from his command center, Julian had driven to the facility himself, accompanied by his personal security detail. The facility was supposed to be empty, but the security log showed Derek’s keycard had accessed the high-risk pharmaceutical vault hours ago.

Walking through the darkened corridors, Julian’s sharp eyes caught a flicker of light beneath the door of the industrial freezer. He approached, his boots echoing in the silence. When he saw the digital reading displaying a lethal temperature, his brow furrowed. Then, he heard it—a sound so faint it seemed like an illusion: a woman's voice, cracking and breathless, singing a lullaby.

"Break it open," Julian commanded, his voice cutting through the dark like steel. "Now!"
