Chapter 10 - Where the Warmth Lives

One year later, the snow fell softly over Julian Vance’s sprawling lakeside estate, but inside, the grand living room was filled with the radiant warmth of a roaring fireplace and the joyful chaos of toddlers.

Emma and Noah, now taking their first sturdy steps, giggled as they chased a golden retriever puppy across the thick rug. Grace watched them from the sofa, a peaceful, radiant smile resting on her face. The pale, terrified woman from the freezer was gone, replaced by a thriving, independent mother and entrepreneur, now running her own successful maternal health non-profit, funded jointly by her divorce settlement from the Bennett liquidation and Julian's venture firm.

Julian walked into the room, carrying two mugs of hot chocolate. He sat down beside her, naturally pulling her into his side. Grace leaned into his warmth, her heart full.

"What are you thinking about?" Julian asked softly, kissing the top of her head.

Grace looked at her healthy, laughing children, and then up into the eyes of the man who had saved her and learned to love her with every fiber of his being.

"I was just thinking," Grace whispered, her hand intertwining with his, "that the coldest night of my life somehow led me to the warmest place I've ever been. We're home."
