Chapter 7 - Breaking the Wall

Dominic looked at Elena’s outstretched hand. For a man who had spent years holding weapons, signing multi-million-dollar contracts, and ruling a criminal underworld with an iron fist, taking that hand felt terrifying.
Slowly, he crossed the room. He knelt down on the plush nursery carpet, his knees sinking into the fabric.
Elena grabbed his large, calloused hand and pulled it forward, guiding it gently until it rested on Mia’s back.
The little girl froze for a fraction of a second. Dominic held his breath, terrified she would pull away, terrified he would ruin this fragile second chance.
Instead, Mia leaned back against his chest.
Valentina, seeing her sister, hesitated, then slowly leaned her head against Dominic’s shoulder. Lucia reached out a small hand and touched Dominic’s wedding ring—the same ring he had worn since Isabella passed away.
"Daddy," Mia whispered, her voice small, sweet, and crystal clear.
Dominic broke.
Tears spilled over his lashes, tracking hot and fast down his cheeks. He wrapped his arms around all three of his daughters, pulling them tightly against his chest while burying his face in their soft black curls.

"I'm here," Dominic sobbed, his voice cracking completely as the walls around his heart finally, permanently shattered. "I'm so sorry, my babies. Daddy is right here. I'm never leaving again."
Elena watched them, a gentle smile gracing her lips as she wiped a stray tear from her own cheek.
