Within minutes, the luxury bridal suite was swarming with forensic investigators, paramedics, and local police.

Grant and Colin were handcuffed and hauled out through the main ballroom in front of stunned wedding guests, who had gathered near the windows to watch the dramatic spectacle unfold. The blonde woman, Dana—the former nurse turned catering accomplice—was picked up by deputies in the venue's parking lot trying to flee in her sedan with a briefcase full of bearer bonds and forged bank transfers.

Paramedics quickly hooked Melissa up to an IV saline drip, flushing the synthetic sedatives out of her system. Within an hour, the heavy fog clouding her mind began to lift, replaced by tears of profound shock, sorrow, and immense gratitude.

"Sociopaths are masters of disguise, sweetie," I said, sitting beside her and holding her hand tightly. "You survived. That's all that matters now."

Sheriff Miller walked back into the room, holding a clear plastic evidence bag containing Grant's laptop and the prescription bottle.

"We found enough digital and financial evidence on his device to put him away for decades," the sheriff said, offering a reassuring nod. "Attempted poisoning, wire fraud, corporate identity theft, and conspiracy. You ladies are safe now."
