Chapter 6 - The Bloodline Revealed

The next morning, the glass-and-steel auditorium of Blackwell Towers was packed with over two hundred journalists, financial analysts, and television crews. News of the abrupt cancellation of the fifty-million-dollar merger had sent shockwaves through Wall Street, causing Blackwell Industries stock to fluctuate wildly.

On the front row sat Arthur Blackwell, looking pristine and arrogant in his three-piece pinstripe suit, alongside Victoria and Thomas Vance. They assumed Harrison had called the press conference to announce the delayed signing of the merger and quell the market's fears.

At precisely 9:00 AM, Harrison walked onto the stage. He didn't wear his usual pristine charcoal suit; he wore a simple black suit, his face tired, but his gaze burning like tungsten.

He didn't step up to the podium. He stood at the center of the stage, holding a single digital tablet.

"Thank you all for coming," Harrison began, his voice echoing clearly through the auditorium speakers. "You are all here today expecting me to sign a historical merger between Blackwell Industries and Vance Global. You expect me to tell you that money, power, and market dominance are the ultimate goals of human achievement."

Arthur frowned in the front row, whispering something sharp to Victoria.

"Yesterday afternoon," Harrison continued, "I received a phone call. A little girl, three miles away in a freezing forest, dialed my number by mistake. Her brother was trapped in a steel snare, bleeding to death in the mud. I left the merger meeting to save them."

The reporters gasped, keying quickly into their laptops. Cameras flashed rapidly.

"What I discovered in that forest," Harrison said, looking directly at his father, "was not just two innocent children. I discovered my own daughter, Arya, and my own son, Tyler."

A deafening murmur erupted through the auditorium. Arthur stood up from his seat, his face flushed red with anger. "Harrison! Shut this down immediately! You are making a spectacle of yourself!"

"Sit down, Arthur," Harrison commanded, his voice thunderous. "Because I’m not finished."

Harrison tapped his tablet. Behind him, a giant high-definition LED screen illuminated.

Displayed for the entire world to see was the crystal-clear security video of Thomas Vance setting the steel trap in Riverside Forest, complete with timestamped GPS coordinates and server logs pointing directly to Vance Global and Arthur Blackwell’s private accounts.

"This man," Harrison pointed at Thomas Vance, who went deathly pale, "placed a lethal trap on a public path to harm Clare Morgan so Vance Global could steal her land. My three-year-old son stepped in it instead. And my father, Arthur Blackwell, authorized the operation."

Pandemonium broke out. Photographers swarmed the front row as police officers, whom Harrison had pre-arranged, entered from the back of the hall.

"As majority shareholder of Blackwell Industries," Harrison announced calmly over the chaos, "I have officially canceled the merger with Vance Global. I have terminated Arthur Blackwell from the Board of Directors, and I have filed for an immediate annulment of my marriage to Victoria Vance on the grounds of fraud and conspiracy."

The police reached the front row, snapping handcuffs around the wrists of a frantic Thomas Vance and a shouting Arthur Blackwell. Victoria hid her face from the dozens of flashing cameras, her public status destroyed in a matter of seconds.

Harrison looked out at the media circus with utter coldness. He had stripped away the lies that had ruled his life for a decade. He was finally free.
