Chapter 6 - The Foundation’s Rebirth

Two weeks after the crisis in the ICU, Rosie was officially discharged. Her doctors confirmed her lungs had healed remarkably well, and her immune system was responding strongly to the proper treatment—the treatment Blake had tried to steal away.
We returned to the house, but the atmosphere had transformed. With Arthur Vance’s help, Blake had been formally evicted, barred from the premises by a strict restraining order, and served with divorce papers demanding full custody, complete financial restitution, and zero alimony.
Marissa’s clinic, facing an immediate federal audit and the total withdrawal of the Alden endowment, collapsed under the weight of its own illegitimate debt. Marissa herself was facing multiple civil suits for accepting fraudulent medical assets. She made several desperate attempts to contact me to “clear the air,” claiming Blake had entirely deceived her about the source of the funds, but I directed her lawyers straight to mine. I had no energy to spare for collateral damage.
With the legal battles safely delegated to our high-powered legal team, I turned my attention to what truly mattered: rebuilding my life and my father’s foundation.
I assumed the active, public role of Chairperson of the Arthur Alden Foundation for Pediatric Medicine. For the first time in years, I stood behind a podium in the grand hospital auditorium, addressing a room full of doctors, researchers, and philanthropists.
“My father believed that medicine is an act of profound empathy,” I spoke into the microphone, my voice clear, steady, and commanding the complete attention of the room. “He built this foundation to protect children, to advance research, and to ensure that no family ever has to face the unthinkable choice between financial ruin and their child’s breath.”
In the front row, Rosie sat swinging her legs in a pretty pink dress, holding a small bouquet of flowers, beaming proudly at her mother.

Arthur Vance sat beside her, applauding warmly.
I had stepped out of the shadow of betrayal and reclaimed my voice, my dignity, and my power.
