Chapter 10 - The Happily Ever After

The grand ballroom of the Reichi estate was filled with light, music, and the chatter of over two hundred guests. It wasn't a mafia gathering; it was a celebration of life, love, and a bright new future.

Emma, now eighteen years old, stood at the center of the room in a stunning white graduation dress. She had just been accepted into Boston University’s pre-law program, determined to spend her life fighting for justice through the legal system—the very system that had once failed her family, but which she now possessed the power to change.

Vincent, now the legitimate CEO of Reichi Logistics, raised his glass to her from across the room, a proud grin on his face. Mrs. Gable was crying tears of joy near the buffet, dabbing her eyes with a lace handkerchief.

But Emma’s eyes were searching for someone else.

She found him standing near the French doors leading to the balcony, watching her with a pride so fierce it practically radiated from him. Matteo looked distinguished, a few silver hairs touching his temples, his tailored tuxedo fitting him perfectly. Next to him stood Sarah, wearing a breathtaking emerald green gown, her hand resting over the sparkling diamond ring on her left finger. They had married three years ago in a quiet, private ceremony on the Amalfi Coast.

Emma walked through the crowd, her heels clicking on the marble floor, until she reached them.

"Congratulations, my legal scholar," Matteo said, stepping forward to pull her into a tight, warm embrace. He didn't look like a shadow anymore; he looked like a proud father.

"I couldn't have done it without my favorite businessman," Emma whispered, hugging him back with all her strength. She pulled away, looking at both Matteo and Sarah. "I love you guys so much. Thank you for answering that text ten years ago."

"Thank you for sending it to the wrong number, sweetheart," Sarah smiled, wiping a tear from Emma’s cheek. "It was the best mistake we ever made."

"It wasn't a mistake," Matteo said quietly, looking up at the clear, starry night sky beyond the balcony. "It was destiny."

The music shifted to a slow, beautiful waltz. Matteo extended his hand to his daughter. "May I have this dance, Future Attorney Peterson-Reichi?"

"I would love to, Dad," Emma said, placing her hand in his.

As they stepped onto the dance floor, surrounded by light, love, and the family they had built together, the ghosts of the past finally faded away into the night. The monster had become a hero, the broken family had been healed, and the wrong number had led them exactly where they belonged.
