Chapter 10 - A New Beginning

A year had passed since that cold autumn day at Hawthorne Memorial Cemetery.
Autumn had returned, turning the trees surrounding the estate into brilliant shades of gold, amber, and deep red. But the atmosphere was completely different. The estate was no longer a gloomy fortress; it was a home filled with life.
Nathan, Clara, Mia, and Lily drove together to Hawthorne Memorial.
This time, there were no paparazzi, no cold formalities, and no fear. They walked down the polished stone path toward the black marble headstone under the ancient oak tree.

Nathan stepped up to the grave. In his hands, he carried a simple bouquet of mixed garden flowers—bright sunflowers, daisies, and crushed yellow wildflowers just like the ones Mia and Lily had brought a year ago.
He laid them gently on the polished stone beside a photo of the entire family: Nathan, Clara, and the twins laughing in the estate garden.
"You brought us back together, Father," Nathan spoke softly to the silent marble. "Even if you didn't know you were doing it. Your real legacy isn't the towers or the money. It's us."
Clara placed her hand on Nathan’s shoulder, smiling warmly. Mia and Lily ran up, kneeling beside the headstone without fear.
"Hi, Grandpa," Lily said, placing a tiny painted rock beside the flowers. "We brought you flowers again. Uncle Nathan helped us build a big treehouse in the backyard!"
"And Mommy is all better now," Mia added cheerfully.

Nathan looked up at the autumn sky. The cold light was gone, replaced by the warm, golden glow of the afternoon sun. He took his sister's hand on one side and held his nieces' small hands on the other.
They walked back toward the gate together—a family whole, healed, and finally home.
