Chapter 10 - A Legacy Of Light

Three years later.
The golden afternoon sun was setting over Long Island Sound, casting deep amber reflections across the water. On the cliff overlooking the ocean stood a newly constructed marble pavilion, built in memory of the estate's complete transformation.
Lorenzo DeLuca stood at the edge of the stone balcony, looking out over the water. His hair was streaked with silver at the temples, but his eyes were clear, serene, and full of peace.
A soft pair of arms wrapped around his waist from behind. Lorenzo turned and smiled, wrapping his coat around Sophia, pulling her close against the cool evening breeze. They had been married two years ago in a small, beautiful ceremony right on these grounds—a union celebrated by an entire city that had watched light triumph over darkness.
“The children are finally asleep,” Sophia said softly, resting her head against his chest.
“Both of them?” Lorenzo asked with a tender smile.
“Both of them,” she replied. “Little Marco was fast asleep before his head hit the pillow, and Emma stayed up just long enough to finish her storybook.”
At six years old, Emma was now a thriving, brilliant young girl, enrolled in the top academy in the state, loved by everyone who met her. And her baby brother, named to reclaim the honor of a lost name, was the light of the entire household.
Inside the quiet house, on the mantlepiece above the grand fireplace in the main study, sat a glass display case.
Inside the case, sitting side by side on velvet cushions, were two objects:
The shattered steel pocket watch, its hands forever frozen at 2:43—the moment the old life ended.

And beside it, the original, broken pair of pink plastic rabbit scissors—the tool that had saved a life, exposed a traitor, and built a family.
Lorenzo and Sophia walked back toward the warm, glowing light of their home, hand in hand. Outside, the night was calm, the ocean was peaceful, and the house that had once known only shadows was now, and forever, filled with light.
