Chapter 9 - Liam’s Regret and the Final Choice

Just then, Liam pushed his way through the crowd, looking panicked and exhausted. He had heard about the gala and rushed over, hoping to salvage whatever dignity his family had left.

When he saw me standing there in absolute command of the room, flanked by billionaires and corporate lawyers, and saw his mother weeping in defeat on the marble floor, his knees buckled.

“Chloe...” Liam whispered, tears welling up in his eyes as he stepped forward. “I’m so sorry. I was a coward. I was weak. Please... let’s talk. Give me another chance. I love you.”

I looked at Liam—not with anger, nor with hatred, but with a profound, liberating pity. The boy who watched me cry and stayed silent was no longer someone I could ever respect, let alone love.

“Liam, you had your chance to stand up for me when your mother abused me in our own home,” I said softly, stepping back. “You chose silence. Now, you can share in the consequence of that silence.”

I turned to Marcus and Arthur. “Proceed with the asset restructuring according to legal protocol. But leave them the small cottage on the outskirts of town. Let them experience what it truly means to start from the bottom, without a penny to their name.”

As security escorted Beatrice and a weeping Liam out of the grand ballroom, the crowd erupted into applause for Aura Design Group and its visionary founder.
