Chapter 8 - The Ultimate Revelation of Debt and Ruin

Before Beatrice could recover her breath, the grand ballroom doors opened again, and a man in a sharp grey suit walked in, accompanied by two legal representatives. It was Marcus Thorne, the chief restructuring officer of the city's largest financial institution.
Marcus walked straight up to Beatrice, holding a thick manila folder.
“Mrs. Beatrice Vance?” Marcus asked loudly enough for the entire room to hear. “I am serving you with an immediate notice of default and foreclosure on your logistics firm, Vance Enterprises, as well as your residential estate.”
Beatrice staggered backward, her face completely drained of color. “What... what are you talking about? That's impossible! My loans aren't due for another year!”
“Your high-interest private notes were bought out and consolidated last week,” Marcus replied calmly, opening the folder to reveal official corporate seals. “And the majority stakeholder who purchased your entire corporate debt portfolio is none other than Aura Design Group, headed by Mrs. Chloe Vance.”
The room erupted into murmurs and gasps. Victoria Vance’s family visibly distanced themselves from Beatrice, realizing the financial ruin she was standing in.

“You thought you could crush me, Beatrice,” I said quietly, my voice echoing in the grand hall. “You thought by cutting my hair and throwing me into the rain, you had erased me. But all you did was give me the fire to build an empire. And now, your empire belongs to me.”
