Chapter 10 - Where the Sun Touches the Water

Five years later.

The morning light streamed into the sprawling sunroom of the Moretti estate. The room was filled with plants, soft light, and the cheerful sounds of children laughing.

Little Leo, now six years old, was running across the polished hardwood floor, wearing a miniature suit jacket and carrying a toy wooden boat. Right behind him was his three-year-old sister, Elena—a spirited little girl with Dante’s dark hair and Vivienne’s striking gray eyes.

"Slow down, Leo!" Vivienne called out, sitting at the breakfast table in a crisp white silk blouse, drinking tea while reviewing architectural blueprints for the third medical clinic she was opening in the state.

Leo stopped, turning around with a solemn expression that was a carbon copy of his uncle's. "I have to secure the harbor, Aunt Vivienne! The cargo is arriving!"

Vivienne hid her smile behind her teacup. "Just make sure the cargo doesn't crash into your sister."

Dante walked into the sunroom, wearing a crisp dark gray suit, adjusting his cufflinks. He looked as imposing, powerful, and handsome as ever, but the cold, cynical edge that had once defined him was completely gone. In its place was the calm authority of a man who possessed everything he could ever desire.

He walked over to Vivienne, bending down to press a warm kiss to her lips, then kissed the top of her head.

"The docks are clear," Dante said, pulling out a chair and sitting beside her. "The legal shipping division cleared forty million in profits this quarter. Your free clinics are fully funded for the next decade."

"Good," Vivienne said, leaning her head against his shoulder. "Because I intend to open two more in Detroit next year."

"Whatever you want, my love," Dante murmured, wrapping an arm around her waist.

Elena ran over, jumping onto Dante’s lap. Dante caught her effortlessly, tossing her up in the air until she squealed with delight, before holding her securely against his chest.

Leo walked over, standing proudly beside Dante's chair, looking up at his uncle. "Uncle Dante? Are we going to the boathouse today?"

"We are," Dante said, touching Leo’s head affectionately. "I’m going to teach you how to steer the yacht."

Leo’s eyes lit up. "Really?!"

"Really," Dante promised.

Vivienne watched her family—the man who had once been her cold, terrifying captor, now the most loving husband and father in the world; the little boy whose life she had saved with a silver pen, now thriving, happy, and safe; and the little girl they had brought into the world together.

She reached out, taking Dante’s hand under the table, their fingers intertwining. The platinum and black diamond ring on her finger caught the morning sunlight, sparkling brightly.

They had walked through blood, rain, and fire. They had confronted the ghosts of the past and destroyed the monsters that tried to tear them apart.

And now, bathed in the bright, warm sunlight of a new day, Dante and Vivienne stood together—unbeatable, unyielding, and endlessly in love.
