Part 9: The Strength of an Unbreakable Partnership

Later that evening, after Mateo and Teresa had been safely transported to their new, secure residence in the city, Alex and Isabella stood together on the private balcony of their master suite, watching the sun dip below the rolling hills of the estate.
The golden light wrapped around them, painting the sky in shades of deep amber and violet.
Isabella leaned her head against Alex’s shoulder, breathing in the familiar scent of cedar and rain. His strong arm wrapped securely around her waist, pulling her flush against his chest.
“You surprised me out there at the gates, Bella,” Alex murmured, pressing a soft kiss into her dark hair. “Standing up to my mother like you owned the world.”
“I don’t own the world, Alex,” Isabella smiled softly, turning her face upward to look into his dark, intense eyes. “I just own my home. And nobody touches my family.”
Alex’s expression softened completely, the hard, ruthless edge of the mafia boss melting away into pure, fierce devotion. He cupped her cheek with his warm palm, his thumb gently tracing her cheekbone.
“You saved everything,” Alex whispered. “The empire, the family name, and me. Without you, I would have let the darkness consume it all.”
