Chapter 10 - The Quiet King's True Crown

Five years later, the city had changed.
The name Kade was no longer whispered in fearful tones associated with syndicate wars and underground violence. The Kade Foundation had become the city's largest benefactor for dockworker safety, labor rights, and children’s hospitals—all funded quietly, without fanfare, bearing only the name of a forgotten man: Liam Vance.
Silas Marchetti remained in a maximum-security federal facility, forgotten by the world he had tried to control. The old syndicates had dissolved into legitimate shipping and real estate corporations, regulated by a council that valued peace above profit.
At the Kade estate, the iron gates were still there, but they were no longer locked against the world.
On a bright, crisp autumn afternoon, a nine-year-old girl with dark hair tied in a ribbon raced across the sprawling green lawn, laughing as a golden retriever chased her heels.
Sitting on the veranda, Weston Kade watched her with a cup of black coffee in his hand. His hair was touched with silver at the temples, but the hard, cold edge that had once defined his entire existence was entirely gone.
Beside him, Clara sat reading a book, her smile soft and content as she watched her daughter play.
A heavy pair of arms wrapped gently around Clara’s shoulders from behind, and a familiar, deep voice murmured, "She's going to track mud all over the new patio stones again."
Clara leaned back against Weston, turning her head to look up at him with amusement dancing in her eyes. "Let her. That's what stone is for."
Weston smiled, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of Clara’s head before looking back out across the lawn.

From the open window of the second floor—Nadia’s room—the soft sound of wind chimes drifted down on the breeze. Across the garden, resting on a wooden bench beneath the blooming camellias, sat an old, patched rag doll with button eyes and yarn hair, keeping watch over a house that had finally found its way back to the light.
Weston Kade was no longer the Quiet King of a dark empire. He was simply home.
