Chapter 9 - The Heir Arrives

Two months later.
A heavy snowstorm swept across Chicago, blanketing the Moretti estate in pristine white silence. The tense atmosphere of fear and betrayal that had hung over the mansion for months had completely vanished, replaced by warmth and anticipation.
In the master wing on the second floor, Dr. Porter and two specialized nurses were gathered around Hannah's bed.
Hannah’s breathing was heavy, her forehead covered in a thin sheen of sweat as another powerful contraction gripped her. Ethan stood at her bedside, holding her hand tightly, letting her squeeze his fingers as hard as she needed to.
"You're doing wonderful, Hannah," Dr. Porter said calmly. "Just one more big push."
Hannah gasped, gathering every ounce of her remaining strength, her eyes fixed on the photograph of Owen resting on the nightstand beside her bed. She pulled Ethan’s hand close, pushed with all her heart, and let out a breathless cry.
A second later, the sharp, healthy cry of a newborn baby echoed through the room.
Dr. Porter smiled broadly, wrapping the baby in a soft warm blanket before laying him gently against Hannah’s chest.
"It's a boy," the doctor announced. "Strong, healthy, and full of life."
Hannah wept tears of pure joy, gently kissing the top of her baby boy's head. The newborn had a thick tuft of dark brown hair and bright, curious dark eyes that looked instantly familiar.
Ethan leaned in closer, his throat tight with emotion as he looked down at his nephew. On the baby's left shoulder was a tiny, faint mark—the distinct crescent shape of the Moretti family line.
"Look at him," Hannah whispered, her voice cracking with happiness. "Ethan... look at him."
"He's perfect," Ethan murmured, a soft smile breaking across his usually severe face. "He looks just like Owen."

"His name is Owen Jr.," Hannah said, looking up at Ethan with deep gratitude. "Owen Arthur Moretti."
Ethan touched the baby’s tiny hand, feeling the small fingers wrap around his index finger with surprising strength. "Welcome home, little Owen."
