Chapter 10 - Home at Last

Two years later.
The morning sun rose warmly over the mountains surrounding San Pedro Garza García, casting a golden light across the gardens of the Alcázar estate.
In the backyard, a small white wooden playhouse had been built near the old oak tree. Seven-year-old Lucía was running around the lawn with a energetic golden retriever puppy, her laughter filling the morning air. She was healthy, bright, and thriving as a top student at her private elementary school, loved dearly by everyone around her.
On the covered patio, Camila sat at a glass table, sipping warm coffee. She was dressed in comfortable linen trousers and a soft silk blouse. She now ran the Alcázar Educational Foundation, a charity organization she and Santiago had created to provide full scholarships, safe housing, and legal assistance to single mothers and domestic workers across Mexico. She was no longer running from the past; she was using her experience to change thousands of lives.
Behind her, warm arms wrapped around her waist, and a soft kiss was pressed against her shoulder.
“You’re up early,” Santiago whispered softly, resting his chin on her shoulder as they watched Lucía play.
“I like watching the sunrise,” Camila replied, leaning back against his chest. “It reminds me that every day is a fresh start.”
Santiago smiled, reaching down to place his hand over her gently rounded stomach. Camila was six months pregnant with their second child—a boy they had already decided to name Mateo, after the loyal security chief who had become like a brother to their family.
“How is our little man doing this morning?” Santiago asked gently, feeling a tiny kick against his palm.
“He’s as energetic as his sister,” Camila laughed softly, placing her hand over his.
Later that afternoon, a simple, beautiful wedding ceremony took place in the estate’s private chapel. There were no press, no grand social politics—only true friends, loyal staff, and family.
Camila walked down the aisle in a stunning, minimalist white lace dress, holding a bouquet of wild white roses. Lucía walked ahead of her as the flower girl, proudly tossing rose petals onto the carpet.
At the altar stood Santiago, looking handsome in a classic navy suit, his eyes shining with tears of joy as he watched his bride walk toward him.
When Camila reached him, Santiago took her hands and looked deep into her eyes.
“Camila,” Santiago said, his voice rich with emotion. “Years ago, I thought I had lost the best part of my life forever. You showed me what real love, courage, and sacrifice mean. You gave me our daughter, and you brought light back into a house that was once cold and empty. I promise to love you, respect you, and protect our family for as long as I live.”
Camila smiled, tears of pure happiness slipping down her cheeks.
“Santiago,” she said softly. “We walked through the darkest valley together, but we never truly lost each other. You gave me hope when I had nothing, and you gave our daughter a father who loves her unconditionally. I am home, Santiago. With you, I am finally home.”
“By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife,” the officiant declared happily. “You may kiss the bride.”
Santiago pulled Camila close, lifting her slightly as he kissed her deeply, surrounded by the warm cheers and applause of the people who loved them.

Lucía ran up to them, hugging both of their legs tightly. Santiago bent down, scooping both his wife and daughter into his arms, holding them close against his heart.
The maid’s little girl was no longer a secret hidden in the dark. She was the beloved heiress of a legacy built on truth, and her family was finally, truly home.
