That evening, back at our cozy apartment, the snow began to fall softly outside, coating the streets in a blanket of pristine white.

Sophie was fast asleep in her bed, clutching a stuffed golden retriever puppy—a gift from Uncle Richard.

I sat at the kitchen table, the antique amber pendant resting safely around my neck. The heavy leather box containing my mother's letters and Caroline's photographs sat neatly on the shelf, no longer a collection of painful secrets, but a testament to courage and enduring love.

My phone chimed softly on the counter. A text message from Richard:

“Quiet snow tonight. Thinking about how far we've come. Goodnight, Hannah.”

I smiled, typing my reply with a warm, steady hand.
