Chapter 9 - The Storm Before Calm

Years passed in warmth, prosperity, and shared purpose. However, life brought one final emotional test when Sophie, now seven years old, fell ill with a sudden, severe viral fever that left her hospitalized.
As Daniel stood outside the hospital room, paralyzed by the traumatic memories of losing his wife years ago, he felt a familiar hand rest gently on his shoulder.
Ava stood beside him, calm and steadfast.
"She’s strong, Daniel," Ava said softly. "And she’s not alone. Neither are you."
For hours, Ava sat by Sophie’s bedside, holding her tiny hand and humming the exact same simple melody she had hummed seven years prior on that turbulent night flight to London.

By morning, the fever broke. Sophie opened her eyes, smiled weakly at Ava and Daniel, and asked for a glass of apple juice.
Daniel fell to his knees beside the bed, holding both his daughter and Ava in a deep, tearful embrace, realizing that the family he thought he had lost forever had been rebuilt in the most unexpected way.
