Chapter 6 - The Mentor’s Promise

Following the award ceremony, Daniel invited Ava and her chaperones to a celebratory dinner at a quiet, private restaurant overlooking the River Thames.

Over dinner, Ava held Sophie once again. The baby cooed happily, reaching her tiny fingers out to grasp Ava’s silver math competition pin.

"Ava," Daniel began, setting his glass down. "You have a mind that comes along once in a generation. But brilliance without resources is often forced to fight battles it shouldn't have to fight."

Ava looked down modestly. "My family does what they can, Mr. Whitmore."

"I know they do. And they should be immensely proud of you," Daniel said warmly. "Which is why I want to offer you something. The Whitmore Foundation would like to establish a full academic fellowship in your name. It will cover your high school education, complete funding for any university in the world you choose, unlimited research grants, and a permanent estate fund for your family in Detroit."

Ava sat frozen, her eyes wide with shock. "Mr. Whitmore... I can't accept that. I only helped you calm your baby on a plane."

"You didn't just calm my baby, Ava," Daniel said, his voice thick with emotion. "You gave a grieving father hope when he felt completely helpless. But more than that—the world needs your mind. Consider this an investment in the future."
