Chapter 10 - The Guard of Two Hearts (A Forever Ending)

As evening fell, the gala guests departed, leaving the estate quiet under a blanket of starlight. The ocean waves crashed rhythmically against the cliffs below.

Inside the west wing master bedroom—which had been completely redesigned into a bright, beautiful family sanctuary—Lorenzo sat on the edge of a giant king-sized bed.

Sophia sat beside him, resting her head gently on his shoulder.

In the center of the bed, tucked under a cozy velvet blanket, lay Isabella and Emma. They were fast asleep, worn out from a long day of running and playing. Isabella had her arm wrapped around Emma, and Emma’s tiny hand was resting peacefully over Isabella’s heart.

On the nightstand sat a small glass of water and the little faded pink backpack.

Lorenzo reached over and softly picked up the tiny grass bracelet that Emma had made months ago. He looked at it, amazed at how such a small, crude object had rewritten the destiny of his entire family.

“What are you thinking about?” Sophia whispered, turning her face up to kiss his cheek.

Lorenzo looked at his wife, his dark eyes filled with a profound, peaceful warmth.

“I was thinking about the day I caught that little toddler standing on a chair beside Isabella’s bed,” Lorenzo said softly. “I thought I was the ruler of this city. I thought I controlled everything. But a three-year-old girl walked in carrying a few crayons and an empty backpack, and showed me what real strength looks like.”

Sophia smiled, touching his jawline lovingly. “She loved Isabella from the very first second.”

“And I have loved you from the moment you stood up to me in my study,” Lorenzo replied softly, turning his head to press his lips against hers in a long, tender kiss that filled the quiet room with warmth.

In her sleep, tiny Emma stirred slightly.

She opened her big brown eyes for a moment, seeing her mother wrapped in Lorenzo’s warm arms, and seeing Isabella sleeping peacefully beside her.

Emma smiled a small, contented smile, placed her tiny hand over her own chest, and whispered softly into the quiet night:

May you like

“Heart is happy now.”

She closed her eyes and drifted back into a sweet, peaceful sleep, safe in the arms of the family that loved her, guarded forever by the mafia boss who had surrendered his heart to the maid’s little toddler.
