Chapter 10 - The Golden Garden

Six months later, the autumn leaves turned a brilliant shade of gold and amber across the sprawling lawns of the Moretti estate.
The wrought-iron gates, once the site of a violent midnight siege, now stood open wide to welcome visiting family friends, local community leaders, and trusted associates. But inside the main courtyard, there was no talk of syndicates, rival territories, or hidden ledgers today.
Today was a celebration.
In the sunlit eastern garden, under a massive white canopy draped in ivy and white roses, a small gathering of close friends and estate staff cheered as Alessandro and Sophia stood together beneath a floral arch.
Sophia wore an elegant, simple cream-colored dress, her dark curls cascading softly over her shoulders, her eyes shining with absolute joy. Alessandro stood beside her, his sharp features softened by a genuine, relaxed smile that the Chicago underworld had never thought possible.
Running around the edge of the lawn in a matching miniature cream dress was three-year-old Emma, clutching a basket of rose petals and tossing them wildly into the air with shrieks of laughter, chasing a friendly golden retriever across the grass.
Dr. Bianchi, standing near the punch bowl with a glass of sparkling cider, raised it toward Alessandro with a knowing grin. Alessandro simply shook his head, raising his own glass back in silent gratitude.
As the string quartet played a soft, elegant melody, Alessandro pulled Sophia close against his chest, wrapping his arms securely around her waist.
"You know," Sophia whispered softly, resting her head against his shoulder as they swayed gently to the music, "if you ever need a shirt ironed properly, you only have to ask me. No toddlers required."

Alessandro chuckled, pressing a soft kiss to the top of her dark hair.
"I think," Alessandro murmured, watching Emma chase the dog across the golden lawn while the warm autumn sun wrapped around them all in a blanket of absolute safety and light, "I already have everything in this house handled perfectly."
