Chapter 10 - A Kingdom of Light

Two years later.

The summer sun shone brightly over the manicured lawns of the Ravenna estate. The high stone walls remained, but they were now covered in blooming white roses and lush green ivy. The dark, armored vehicles had been replaced by family SUVs, and the sound of gunfire had been permanently substituted by the sweet, ringing laughter of children playing.

A grand white tent stood on the lawn, filled with hundreds of guests—not mafia dons or shady politicians, but legitimate business partners, friends, and family.

Luca Ravenna stood at the altar, looking devastatingly handsome in a classic tuxedo. His gray eyes were no longer cold like a winter storm; they were warm, reflecting the bright afternoon sky.

Beside him stood Marco, his best man, smiling proudly.

The music shifted to a beautiful, soaring orchestral piece. The crowd stood up.

First came the flower girls. Mia and Cara, now six years old, walked down the aisle in matching tulle dresses, throwing pink rose petals with pure delight. Mia wore a small silver necklace with a wolf charm, while Cara held a basket tightly, her confidence radiating.

And then came Elena.

She was breathtaking in an elegant, off-the-shoulder lace gown, her dark hair pinned back with a platinum tiara. In her hand, she held a bouquet of white lilies, and on her finger, the alexandrite ring sparkled brilliant green under the summer sun.

Luca felt his breath hitch, exactly as it had done two years ago in the middle of that Michigan Avenue blizzard. But this time, it wasn't from shock or fear. It was from overwhelming gratitude.

When Elena reached the altar, Luca took her hands in his.

"You saved me," Luca whispered to her, loud enough only for her to hear. "I thought I was a man destined to leave nothing but ash behind. You gave me a kingdom of light."

"We found each other in the storm, Luca," Elena replied softly, her eyes shining with love. "And we built our own sunshine."

The priest pronounced them husband and wife. Luca pulled Elena into a deep, passionate kiss as the entire crowd erupted into thundering applause.

At the reception, Luca sat at the head table, his wife beside him and his two daughters sitting on his lap, happily eating strawberry wedding cake.

Luca looked down at his signet ring—the platinum wolf—and then at his mother’s alexandrite ring on Elena's finger. The dark legacy of the Ravenna family had finally been redeemed. He had started as a mafia boss who believed he was entirely alone, barren, and cursed to live a life of violence.

Now, he was a protector, a husband, and a fiercely loving father.

As the sun began to set over the lake, casting a golden glow over his beautiful family, Luca realized that the greatest empires aren't built on blood and fear. They are built on the unbreakable promises we make to the ones we love.
