Chapter 8 - A New Horizon

Two years later, the ocean wind blew softly over the cliffs of La Jolla, but the mood at the mansion was completely different. The house was filled with music, bright flowers, and the chatter of close friends and family.
Under a canopy of white roses overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Logan and Emily exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony. Caleb stood proudly beside his father as the best man, holding the ring box with a grin that spanned from ear to ear.
"When I was sick," Caleb said during his short toast at the reception, holding up a glass of sparkling apple cider, "I thought the world was a scary place where people only pretended to care. But then Emily came into our house. She showed me that real heroes don't wear capes—they bring surgical scissors and a lot of courage. I'm so happy she's officially my mom now."
