Chapter 8 - The Traitor Unmasked

By 3:00 AM, the estate was entirely secure.
The treacherous elements within the syndicate had been purged in a single, decisive night. The story of Dominic’s betrayal and Alejandro’s miraculous survival sent shockwaves through New York, cementing Alejandro Moretti’s reputation not just as a terrifying underworld figure, but as an invincible leader backed by divine fortune.
Alejandro arrived back at the mansion. The grand house was quiet, glowing softly under warm yellow lights.
He walked up the grand staircase and headed straight for the guest suite. He opened the door quietly so as not to wake the occupants.
Sarah was sitting in an armchair by the window, fast asleep with a blanket over her shoulders. On the large bed, tiny Emma lay tucked under the silk sheets, holding her stuffed rabbit close to her chin.
Alejandro stepped quietly into the room, his heavy boots making no sound on the thick rugs. He walked to the edge of the bed and looked down at the little girl who had altered the fate of an empire.
For three years, ever since losing his own daughter Kiara, Alejandro’s heart had been locked in a cold, dark tomb of grief and vengeance. But looking at Emma’s peaceful face, he felt something thaw deep within his chest.
Emma stirred, opening her large hazel eyes. She rubbed her face with her tiny fist and looked up at him.
"Mr. Quiet Man?" she whispered sleepily. "Did you fix the bad wine?"
Alejandro knelt down beside the bed, bringing his large, scarred hand to rest gently on her small blanketed shoulder.
"Yes, Emma," Alejandro said softly, a genuine, warm smile breaking across his face for the first time in years. "I fixed everything. The bad people are gone."
"Did you find another EpiPen?" she asked innocently.
Alejandro reached into his coat and pulled out a gold-plated case containing a specialized medical card and a custom, lightweight pediatric injector holster designed specifically for her pink rabbit backpack.
"I found a thousand of them," Alejandro whispered smoothly. "You will never have to worry again, little one."
Sarah woke up, blinking against the soft light, and gasped as she saw Alejandro kneeling by her daughter's bed.
"Mr. Moretti... is it over?"
May you like
Alejandro stood up, turning to Sarah with complete warmth in his eyes.
"It is over, Sarah. The house is clean. The family is safe."
