Chapter 10 - A New Dawn for the House of Moretti

Two years later.
Spring had arrived in New York. The eastern lawn of the Moretti estate was brilliant with blooming white roses, lush green grass, and bright sunshine warming the marble terraces.
The study windows were wide open, letting in the sweet breeze of April air. The old dark furniture had been replaced with bright, warm oak, and the dark rug where Alejandro had almost died was gone, replaced by light, elegant tiles.
On the desk sat a framed photograph. It showed Alejandro, Sarah, and six-year-old Emma standing together at a beach, smiling brightly under the sun.
Outside on the grass, a happy shout echoed through the afternoon air.
"Catch me, Uncle Bruno!"
Emma, now six years old and glowing with vibrant health, raced across the manicured lawn wearing a bright summer dress. Behind her, Bruno—the fearsome six-foot-four security chief—was lightheartedly jogging with his arms outstretched, pretending he couldn't keep up with her speed, roaring like a silly monster while the surrounding guards laughed heartily.
Sarah sat on the shaded patio table, sipping tea and reading a book, her face relaxed, beautiful, and completely free of the anxiety that had once defined her life.
Alejandro stepped out onto the terrace, holding two glasses of fresh lemonade. He walked over to Sarah, handing her a glass, and leaned against the marble balustrade, watching Emma play.
"She's getting fast," Alejandro remarked with a warm smile.
"She gets that from her mother," Sarah joked, looking up at him with deep affection and gratitude. "Thank you, Alejandro. For everything. For giving us a life we never dreamed possible."
"No, Sarah," Alejandro said softly, looking out over his peaceful home. "You and Emma gave me back my soul."
Emma came running up the marble steps, her cheeks rosy, clutching her loyal, floppy-eared stuffed rabbit under her arm. She threw her small arms around Alejandro's waist, hugging him tightly.
"Look, Uncle Alejandro! I built a giant castle out of blocks down by the fountain!"
Alejandro knelt down, scooping the little girl into his arms and swinging her up onto his shoulder, making her giggle with delight.
"Is that so?" Alejandro chuckled warmly. "Then we had better go inspect it, Princess Emma. Make sure the guards are positioned correctly."
"Okay!" she cheered happily, holding onto his hair.

As the late afternoon sun cast golden light across the estate, Alejandro Moretti walked down the stone path toward the garden, carrying the little girl who had saved his life.
The dark shadows of the past were completely gone, replaced by warmth, family, and a bright, everlasting future.
